INSURANCE SALVAGE: Grady-White 24’/“247 Advance”– NORESERVEFOR SALE IS 1999 GRADY-WHITE 24' powered with twin 2011Yamaha 150 horsepower 4-stroke outboards. This boat suffered capsizing and total submersion while at the slipand unattended.  The boat was raised andblocked ashore on the owner’s trailer. The boat was surveyed by the owner’s insurance company using anindependent survey firm.  The boat wasdeclared total loss by the insurance company. RACE Marine Consultants has been retained to dispose of the salvage onbehalf of the insurer. The following is an excerpt from the insurance company surveyor’sdamage report:“We found the vessel resting on its trailer inside the facility's yard.We inspected the hull bottom and all thru-hull fittings. The hull and thru-hullfittings were found to be in visibly good condition and all in place. Thestarboard and portside trim tabs had been torn from their mounting areas, andthe damages were new in nature where the screws pulled out of the transom. Weinspected the vessel’s engines and found them to be visibly salt water damaged. We boarded the vessel and sighted damages consistent with the vessel beingcompletely submerged. All the helm electronics, batteries, and vessel wiringhad visible salt water damage from being submerged. We examined all accessibledeck fittings and hoses. All that could be sighted and accessed were in placewith the hoses on them. The seacocks for the bait tanks and live wells were inplace and in visibly good condition. The main seacock was found closed. The facilityreported to us that after the salvager pumped the vessel out, and towed thevessel over to the facility, the vessel did not take on any water. They alsoreported that when the vessel was hauled, there were no obvious signs of waterleak.CONCLUSIONS: The damages to the vessel are consistent with sinking and beingcompletely submerged. The exact cause of the sinking could not be determined at the time ofour inspection.”                                                      end of survey report excerptEMERGENCY SERVICE: Following the recovery and haul out, the boat yard “pickled” the enginesby draining the engines of water and refilling with diesel fuel.Overall Condition: judging from the survey report andthe surveyor’s photos, the boat was in typical condition for its age:  normal wear and tear but no major damageother than the damage due to the submersion. The owner reported that the boat was equipped with the following permanentlyattached equipment:GPSSonarRadarAutopilotVHF radioStereoEPIRBShore power battery chargingsystemAll LED lighting (nav, cockpit,spreader)35 gal live wellAnchor, chain, lineOutriggersCustom "Eisenglass" foulweather console enclosureTackle storage system in consoleThe owner has removed all loose and personal gear from theboat.  Included with the sale are theboat and its attached equipment as listed above.  PHOTOS:The attached photos were taken by the owner and by theinsurance company’s surveyor.  They areas follows:00:  photo by thesurveyor shows the boat on the owner’s trailer after recovery01:  photo by thesurveyor shows the port 150 horsepower Yamaha 4-stroke outboard 02:  photo by thesurveyor shows the starboard 150 horsepower Yamaha 4-stroke outboard 03:  photo by thesurveyor shows the electrical system damage to the port outboard 04:  photo by thesurveyor shows the undamaged starboard hull bottom 05:  photo by thesurveyor shows the undamaged port hull bottom 06:  photo by thesurveyor shows the damage to the port trim plane07:  photo by thesurveyor shows the damage to the starboard trim plane08:  photo by thesurveyor shows the center console09:  photo by thesurveyor shows the electronics10:  photo by thesurveyor shows the batteries and switches11:  photo by theformer owner shows the boat before the submersion 12:  photo by theformer owner shows the boat capsized 13:  photo by theformer owner shows the trailer 14:  photo by theformer owner shows the trailer 15:  photo by theformer owner shows the trailer VIN16:  photo by theformer owner shows the boat title with the former owner’s name redacted 17:  this is the 1999Grady-White catalog page for this model.
