Pilot Cutter Warren Evans
Where to start...
Three years ago bought this old girl off ebay, She had recently sunk twice! but didn't care, I'm sentimental fool. Also professional shipwright/boat builder. She sunk because she had loose plank that the owners were assured was fine and took three years before it sprung, the owners were away. three months later the owners were away again, half way through refit and we had horrendous weather which lasted two weeks, high tides and strong winds, the 240 volt connection was damaged and the bilge pump had no power (pond pump) she filled with rain water and the exhaust was not attached to the hull sides, she only had to take on limited amount of water before seven inch hole was exposed to the forces called 'sea'. Since have owned the boat in three years she takes on no water at all cleaned the bilges out and at the time we had week of no rain and nothing came in.

I spent every spare minute working on her engine and after month she burst into life, smoked like hell but took later us 15 miles without issue to her now port, where she has been ever since. She's in Port Penrhyn, Bangor, North Wales.
My partner and planned on making her our home, but She quickly lost interest and have since bought another but smaller wooden pilot boat also from ebay and something has to give.
For sale is our boat Warren Evans, she is without doubt project, most rotten wood has been removed and she does not leak at all unless it rains. The engine is partially stripped the injectors have been rebuilt and the Injection pump is away being rebuilt, have taken one of the cylinder heads off to check the state of the internals, the bore has wear but still serviceable depending on how fussy you want to be.
It would take me three years to type all the blood sweat and tears that has so far gone into her so the simplest way to help anyone crazy enough to take this project on is for you to look on YouTube for 'pilot vessel warren evans' and Kelvin T8. also the biggest help will be if you go on Facebook and type in 'pilot vessel warren evans' there have set up group which can add you to and you can see all my efforts over the years and read some very interesting comments from former owners and operators.
Warren Evans was built by J&G Forbes of Sandhaven in 1962, She spent her working life operating from Barry, South Wales, She is powered by single engine Kelvin T8 which is 31.2 litres straight and has 2:1 reduction ratio gearbox and achieves 10.5 knots. She is not running and will require both time and money to do so.
The engine alone is worth £6000+ when back together and running, there are three spare cylinder heads, numerous gaskets, valves, connecting rods, piston rings, workshop manuals etc. and all parts are still available from British Polar UK.
There is also Lombardini gen set, seized but filled with oil.
There's Lister single cylinder which runs well and was used for charging the main batteries but the dynamo is disconnected and will require service or replacing.
Autopilot is fitted and there is numerous C-trek nav aids but the main computer is cream crackered as that got wet when she sunk alongside the harbour wall in Conwy.
She has her original brass gimballed compass too, worth few quid alone.
Four bronze trawler sliding windows fitted and two spare one needs glass.
There's monster horn that comes with her, an aluminium mast with plate that could take boom for lifting dinghies or gear etc.
Anchor and chain, and windlass which needs rebuilding.
Two large portholes one fitted in boat other never fitted.
There's so many other things, best to come and look.
So there we go, please, please, please don't ask questions unless you genuinely do want to buy the boat and all the gear mentioned as one. I'm very busy and time is precious hence me offering the old girl for sale.
I cannot take less than £2000 the gear is worth far more, just don't have the time to spare so my loss is your gain, would hope that someone will buy her to restore her, but bare in mind she needs new deck, engine work, upper planks replacing and bulwarks or rails fitting, she is bare down below and has basic accommodation  I'm sure and hope you know what's involved.
You will need to get insurance for her to stay where she is to cover million and protect against sinking etc. Mooring fees are due as of this March and cost £1500 for the year this would have to be agreed by the harbour master of course, depending on your plans and monthly fees are also available should you wish but cost slightly more.
Please follow the links mentioned to see many more photo's of just about every corner of this boat inside and out.
If buyer cannot be found she will sadly have to be dismantled and really hope this is not the case.
Cash sale, or Paypal, winner must contact within 24 hours of auction ending and payment must be made within days, this will not be relisted, thanks.
