*THE BOAT MUST BE PICKED UP BY TRUCK WITH HIAB CRANE AND CRADLE*
I bought this boat in August last year just as was just starting up carpentry business thinking it would be slow for the first few months but haven't had day off yet Therefore no time to get stuck into this project.I bought it from Fowey in South Cornwall where it was on the water being used regularly but unfortunately not being kept in very good condition. One thing can say is that the engine runs as sweet as it should, which is one of the main reasons that bought it other than it's good lines.It's Larch on Oak believe and from the 1950's was told.I served an apprenticeship as wooden boat builder in Finland some 17 years ago, so through my eyes there isn't great deal of work to be done to it. For anyone who is handy with wood it's not major project in my opinion.
Good points:All hull Larch planking is sound, as is the Oak keel, front deck and cabin and engine runs well.Very good that the 1st keel plank on both sides is in good condition as this is usually the first to go and worst to change.It has few small cupboards which still have, but took out before starting work on it. Also has an old style echo sounder and buoys etc.
Bad points:Some of the Carvel planking above water line has opened up over the years. (not along full length) These bigger gaps would need splining -routing out and thin strips of wood glueing in where needed.At some time in it's life was told it has been lifted without any support woods in place which had snapped some of the oak steam bent frames inside the boat, so it has had sister frames put alongside them.It would need some of these took out and replaced. That's probably why some of the planks have opened up.The transom has hole in it (above waterline) and at least the top third of the transom is soft and would need replacing. (could be cut out and built up bit at time)From the back of the cabin to the rear of the boat it would need the thin deck and rear deck replacing as someone has bodged some not-so-waterproof plywood on there.
I bought trailer to tow it back from Fowey which it is sitting on at the moment but am going to sell it separately as think the trailer isn't really meant to carry such weight boat. The hitch is only rated at 750kg which never realised until we got back from the slow nervous ride home.. I'm guessing the boat would weigh around 2500kg's but that's just my guess.
Viewing definitely is advisable and it would be nice to see someone getting it back to it's former glory. was also told it originally was built as harbour work boat (hence 3 cylinder diesel) with the cabin added later.I have some old photographs of it when it was first built with the builder before cabin was on few years ago etc.
We could also come to some kind of arrangement if the buyer needed the wood to do all the repair work as have good timber supply, but that would be to talk about if needed.

So just to make things very clear, it is just the boat for sale.  --BOAT TO BE PICKED UP BY TRUCK WITH HIAB CRANE AND CRADLE-- just for the fact that the trailer hitch isn't suitable to be towing that sized boat (yes, did, but shouldn't have) and it was nightmare to get it into our yard.The trailer,(£900) tarpaulin shelter (£1000) and boat stands (£200) will be sold separately. Cash on collection.
