1971 Morgan M-22 for sale

Sellingfor my late brother's wife sweet sailing 1971 Morgan 22. It has some cosmetic issues, scratchesand scrapes, but is solid, sturdy vessel with the "bullet-proof" Morgan pedigree, recently installed knot-log, full set ofdecent sails, heavy-duty tandem trailer with recently-new tires and spare, anda lightly used Nissan long-shaft outboard. Thisvessel originally sailed/raced in Lake Superior. It is the sister of my own '69Morgan 22 which won its share of races, e.g., my '69 won outright the long distance 2002 Kentucky Lake Fall RiddleCup (against some serious competition). We had the smallest boat in the race, and all others had to give us time (some had to give us lot of time, e.g., the 34and 38 footers). We were in J&M class, which started after the Spinnakerclass cleared the line, making our actual start signal bit over ten minuteslater than the Spinnaker class start. We finished ahead of ALL of the J&Mclass, finishing with the leaders of the Spinnaker class, between and 5minutes after the first-to-finish Spinnaker boat, and (if recall correctly)only three or four of those finished ahead of us. We won on actual time notby handicap. After the race, before awards were handed out, other racers were overheard pondering, "What the kind of boat was that?" referring to the Morgan 22.
Mypoint? My cruiser is as stable and comfortable as any small vessel; it is stock Morgan 22 which can hold its own as pretty respectable race vessel. My brother's 22 is better equipped for racing. It is essentially the same boat, but it has an extra race rudder (shallower, but longer fore and aft); it has acenterboard-slot-closing device which reduces turbulence when the board is up;and the shrouds are mounted on the cabin instead of gunwales, allowing the jibto be sheeted in foot or so closer on either side, which lets the boat tosail closer to the wind. We won our share of races inour 22. My brother's Morgan should routinely beat mine any day.So, up forsale is solid 1971 Morgan 22(needing some cosmetic work) with good trailer, sails, and lightly used Nissan 3.5 hp long shaft outboard. My sister-in-law wants to sellit. I'd snap it up, but own four sailboats already. She is asking $4500 withsails, ob motor, and trailer.
